Thank you to everyone who attended our 2018 Spring Seminar at Arey’s Pond. For those who were unable to join us, here’s a quick review. We discussed boating safety and reported on the changes in Big and Little Pleasant Bay after a winter of powerful storms. It’s still too early to say what will be a safe channel to access the ocean and Nantucket sound via the Chatham end of Pleasant Bay. But, it has been reported you can get through at high tide if you have a draft of 2.5 feet or less. We also discussed sailing without a motor in a restricted channel (i.e. the Narrows).

Former President of the Friends of Pleasant Bay, Herb Heidt, reported on the floating classroom project to be launched this summer. Dean Skiff also discussed the Sea Scouts and their long history in Arey’s Pond.

All of us at Arey’s Pond are excited about the 2018 season and to share the many improvements at the yard we worked hard to complete over the winter. Come on by, visit us and prepare for the upcoming sailing season!
