Arey's 23' Cruising Catboat - Unfinished Hull

This is a unique opportunity to purchase a custom wood composite hull. This 23’ Coastal Cruising Cat hull (based off of our 22’ Catboat, Gracie Anne) was built by Arey’s Pond this year. The sale includes a 2019 3YM Yanmar 20hp diesel engine that is in its original shipping box. Also included with the hull are a set of bronze pintles and gudgeons made by Port Townsend Foundry. This opportunity includes the option of finishing the hull with Arey's Pond, or another shop or individual. Lines and sail plans for this design will be released on our website soon. If Arey’s Pond were to finish this project, she could be launched in the Spring of 2021.  This hull has become available because the current owner now envisions using their new boat for racing, not cruising. As a result, we are now redesigning our 22’ catboat and building a stripped down racing version that will focus on speed. The changes made to the design were too significant to make to the existing hull, so we will be building a new boat.  The 23’ Coastal Cruising Cat is on her molds, is partially fared and ready for sheathing and painting. The hull was constructed using 3/4’ cedar tongue and groove planking, on 1.5 x 1.5 laminated frames, on 22" centers and it has a varnished Mahogany transom. The centerboard trunk was constructed with carbon resin fiber sealed inside and built into a laminated fir backbone.  As the hull sits in our shop, she has a replacement value of $90,000.00, including motor, rudder and hardware. We are offering the hull for $60,000.00 or best offer. This boat was scheduled to have a completed finish price of $380,000. This included custom interior with cabin heater, fully loaded galley, head, berths for three, wheel steering, varnished Sitka spruce boom and gaff, and a sail by Thurston & Quantum. The generous cockpit has space for up to six adults with locker space designed to store an outboard and inflatable. Electronics would include bulkhead mounted GPS and VHF, depth sounder, cabin lights and running lights. Canvas work would include interior custom cushions, full wrap around cockpit cushions and sail cover. The finish would include all painted surfaces in AwlGrip and a combination of AwlSpar and flagship varnish to all Mahogany trim.  This is an exciting opportunity to purchase a completed catboat hull at a discounted price, and customize the rest of the boat to the new owner’s specifications.
